Cancer Research UK has 13 high street shops across Nottinghamshire, last year raising over "Our shops are the face of Cancer Research UK on the high street," said Abby. "As well as raising vital funds for research, they enable us to communicate important messages about prevention and early diagnosis of the disease directly to the public."

"We have 60 volunteers to process stock and keep the shop running, seven days a week."
"I'd encourage people to consider donating absolutely anything to our shops as it all helps us raise much needed funds and reduces landfill.
"Gift aid is a real boost, adding an extra 25 per cent on to the final sum. Our donors receive a letter at the end of the year informing them how much their items have raised.
PR and marketing co ordinator, Rebecca Corry said: "We have nine shops in and around Nottingham, plus a shop within the hospice itself for our patients, staff, volunteers and visitors.

"From time to time we may have to do additional research, particularly for unique items, such as the retro and vintage donations stocked at our Mapperley shop.

Nottinghamshire Hospice is seeing a surge in customers to its shops.

Volunteers in the hospice shops see a lot of interesting and unexpected sights.
Rebecca continues: "We had a pair of boots donated to one of our shops recently and found a substantial amount of money tucked into one of them. Luckily, as the donation had been gift aided, we were able to contact the donor. They insisted we keep it as they are very supportive of the work we do."

Abby, who's been manager at the Central Avenue shop for 18 months, added: "I'm constantly amazed by people's generosity.
"Children's toys are currently very popular. It's a good time for families to clear out their children's bedrooms in preparation for the new school year.
