her to think she can have a successful run. But I don't see this as the type of race where it will split the door for a Democratic candidate to walk in and win."
A column in the Jackson Hole News and Guide was titled, "A run by Liz could upset Wyo. politics." An editorial in The Cody Enterprise predicted, "Cheney challenge fraught with trouble."

The move by Cheney to announce her candidacy marks a rare occasion in American politics in which a sitting senator with good approval ratings will be challenged, said James King, political science department head at the University of Wyoming.
The decision by Cheney to run not only thrusts her family name back into the spotlight five years after her father, Dick Cheney, left office as vice president, but it will create a primary in which Wyomingites will choose between the ranking Senator from Gillette or the daughter of the native son and vice president.
Sen. Al Simpson told the New York Times that a race between Cheney and Enzi would be a "disaster," the outspoken politician was tight lipped.
She vowed to fight the president's "war" on the Second Amendment, the Internal Revenue Service's "war" on privacy and the Environmental Protection Agency's "war" on Wyoming's energy industry.
Minutes after Cheney made the announcement, Enzi's office issued a statement saying that the three term senator will take another crack at re election.
Tuesday evening Cheney said that she's taking on Enzi because it's time for a new generation of leadership in the Republican Party.
"If we fail to protect our nation from these destructive policies, our very freedoms will be at risk," she said.
Liz Cheney announced Tuesday she will run for Sen. Mike Enzi's seat in the 2014 congressional election, setting the stage for a primary battle between two longstanding names in Wyoming politics.
Out of the gate, Cheney amped up the rhetoric toward the federal government in a video she releasedin coordination withher announcement. She didn't target Enzi, but she took aim at President Barack Obama and "his liberal allies."
The race is likely to mark something seldom seen in Wyoming elections campaigns flooded with cash.
The Gillette News Record's headline was more biting: "No Cheney Required."
"It will spark conflict within the Republican party," King said. "Enzi has his backers. Ms. Cheney has established sufficient contacts for Black Nike Air Max 95 Junior
for Wyoming's Senate seat in 2014," Enzi said in the statement. "When I announce formally, I will let everyone know that date in the future. In the meantime, I will do the job I was already elected to do."
The amount of spending that is likely to occur in this race has been "unseen" in Wyoming, he said.
"Given Liz Cheney's limited time in Wyoming, the 'carpetbagger' Air Max Black Blue label is unavoidable, especially with Enzi's long political history here," the Gillette editorial said. Senate, she should make it from a state where she has truly lived and worked."
The last hotly contested primary race in the Republican Party for a federal office was when Rep. Cynthia Lummis squared off against Mark Gordon.
"People that are trying to use'carpetbagger' aretrying to avoid talking about substance and issues," she said.
Cheney shrugged off the "carpetbagger" label.
Cheney challenges Enzi
"I deeply care about them both," he said.
The announcement ends speculation about Cheney's political ambitions in Wyoming and marks the beginning of a dogfight for money and political standing within the state's conservative ranks.
It was a multicandidate race and only $2 million was spent, Novotny said.
In a state known to be wary of outsiders, Cheney has espoused her Wyoming roots at dinners and other speaking events across the state. At an event in May, she told a crowd of female veterans a story about how her great grandmother walked across Wyoming in bare feet during the days of the homesteaders in 1852 and how her grandmother was the first female deputy sheriff in Natrona County.
Since Cheney, 46, moved to Jackson last year she's been touring the state's social functions in an effort to paint herself as a Wyoming insider. Her appearances and the rumors of her candidacy haven't been uniformly embraced.
Super PACs and outside groups are likely to dump between $5 million and $10 million into the coffers of the two candidates, said Bill Novotny, a national campaign consultant and former Enzi staffer.
"We can't go along to get along," she said.
In April, Enzi had told members of the Wyoming Republican Party State Central Committee that he was looking forward to running again in 2014.
