Not only has there been pushback from religious groups, but other gay rights activists say the change doesn't go far enough since it continues to exclude openly gay troop leaders.
CHEYENNE A Cheyenne Boy Scout troop is looking for a new home.
"I don't think anyone wanted to see the Boy Scouts leave the church," Frank said. "We decided we would rather seek the approval of God than the people around us.
The First Congregational Church of Cheyenne has been home to Troop 102 since the late 1950s. But it voted on Dec. 8 not to renew the troop's charter, which expires Jan. 1.
Meanwhile, Coleman said Troop 102 is unlikely to be without a home for long. He said several local churches have already come forward offering to charter with the troop.

"We'll probably start that process in January to try to identify a new charter partner," Coleman said.
The vote came seven months after the Scouts' 1,400 member national council voted to allow openly gay youths into its ranks. The policy goes into effect on Jan. 1.
That's a better ratio compared to troops in the South, where the Southern Baptist Convention has loudly opposed the new policy.
"We believe the Bible to be true, and we believe in not partnering with sinful things."
"Even though the national policy changes on Jan. 1, what we're doing here is focusing on our mission," he said. But then again,it's soooooo easy to infer that you are a Christian because you say so. Coleman agreed that while the church's decision was regrettable, its members have been willing to work with the troop to find a new home. He added that he doesn't begrudge them their convictions.
"They've got to make a decision that's consistent with their values, and we're going to move on," Coleman said.
Coleman acknowledged the debate is likely to continue into the new year. But in the meantime, he said, the organization is Nike Air Max 95 Ultra Essential Black going to continue to focus on the benefits that Scouting provides its members.
To date, he said, only about five of the council's 277 charter organizations have declined to renew charters due to the policy change.

Cheyenne church splits with Boy Scouts over gay troop policy
"We, as a church, felt like we didn't want to rush to make a decision," Frank said. "Our conclusion as a church was that homosexuality is a sin as given to us in the Bible.
The troop also will be allowed to continue meeting at the church for at least the next six months while members search for a new charter organization.
While the Boy Scouts' policy change has been praised by some gay rights proponents, the decision has remained controversial.
Frank noted that the split, while unfortunate, was nonetheless amicable. First Congregational let Troop 102 to keep its number and the various materials it has collected at the church over the decades.
The church's pastor, the Rev. Kevin Frank, said church members were not happy to let the troop go. But, he added, they saw it as a necessary step to remain in accordance with their faith.
