Teacher Anne Hinds said: "We could really do with two crossing patrols. "The roads are extremely busy when the children are walking to and from school and our headteacher is very concerned. "We've had several near misses. I've been here 17 years and I don't think we've ever had a lollipop person.
"We're scared crossing the road, especially the children who walk to school on their own or with younger brothers or sisters.
Coun Andrew Fender wrote back to the school within a week.
"The drivers should slow down and be more careful when going past our school."
Primary in Withington wrote letters to town hall bosses calling for a lollipop person outside their school.
The school is sandwiched between two busy roads, Old Moat Lane, which has a junction opposite the school gates, and Whitchurch Road, which many motorists use as a rat run Air Max 98 X Supreme
