Two Mile Ditch

Two Mile Ditch is in the parish of Castlegar, County Galway, and is approximately three miles from Galway City.

It is mainly on the Galway to Tuam road, or towards the Galway end of the N17.

In the Irish language,it is Chlaí Dhá Mhíle and it envelops townlands such as Cappanabornia, Polkeen.

Local geology is Limestone and Roadstone has a quarry there.

While Two Mile Ditch  is quite close to the city, many parts are still zoned agricultural and you would feel that you're in the countryside.

Other businesses are G.T.B. Auto Services, Rooneys Motors which are in Lyons's Estate. Some more are in Casserly's warehouse opposite the Racecourse hill ( link road between the Tuam road and the Monivea road).

During Raceweek, extra Bed and Breakfast services help to accommodate the racing population.

Trivia 

In 1979 when Pope John Paul came to Galway, Roadstone was good enough to allow hundreds of buses park on their property. Locals also allowed visitors to this event to use bathroom facilities, etc..
